How To Avoid The Crack Of Your Clay Art

Your clay art sometimes can got cracks. The cracks appears if the drying process is not in the same level at the outside and inside the clay.
To avoid the crack, make sure the room is having a stable temperature. If you are drying a figurine, avoid fan. It will make the figurine surface drying faster than the inside, and your figurine will start to having cracks here and there.
If you are making a flat surface such as fridge magnet, fan is not a big problem. But it is still better if you put in a room that have a stable temperature and got no wind blowing here and there. Of course, avoid them from your pet, too.

How To Preserve The Air Dry Clay

It is very tricky to handle an air dry clay, as it will dry in the process of your project. Here are some useful tips to handle the clay :
  • colored clay are drying faster than white (non color) clay
  • textured clay is easier to dry (clay mixed with sands or glitters or some else)
  • mix the necessary amount of clay, store the excess clay in a sealed plastic or a tight lid container
  • you can cover your clay with wet towel if not in use
  • mix with water when your clay is a bit dry than you want, mix it a little bit first, and you can add some water later if it is still not in the wetness level you want it to be
